Summary:1,142,923. Cleaning spinning chambers. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 7 Aug., 1967 [11 Aug., 1966], No. 36176/67. Headings D1D and D1F. A method of cleaning rotary spinning chambers 2 is characterised in that, after interrupting the .spinning process and reducing the speed of rotation of the spinning chamber 2, cleaning agents or devices are introduced into the collecting groove 24 and the loosened dirt S is removed from the chamber by means of a stream of air. Apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a stationary housing 1, a spinning chamber 2 rotatable in the housing and means 6 for introducing fibres and means 40 withdrawing spun yarn and is characterised by a cleaning channel 3 leading into the collecting groove 24 of the chamber 2. The channel 3 preferably leads tangentially into the groove 24 against the direction of rotation of the chamber 2. The cleaning agent may comprise a stream of air or liquid or a scraper movable lengthwise of the channel 3. The cleaning scraper may have an injection bore for the injection of cleaning liquid or air into the groove 24. The loosened dirt S is preferably withdrawn by means of aperture 40 positioned opposite the twisted yarn outlet 6.
