Summary:1,138,587. Bis-dihydro-triazolethiones. GEVAERT-AGFA N.V. 10 Feb., 1967 [14 Feb., 1966], No. 6332/66. Heading C2C. [Also in Division G2] 5,51 - bis - 1,2,4 - Triazoline - 3 - thiones are disclosed having the formula where R and R 1 is each H, alkyl, aryl, or a heterocyclic radical but at least one of R and R 1 is H; and A is a chemical bond or an organic bivalent radical. The bivalent radical may be a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene, arylene, aralkylene, cycloalkylene or bivalent heterocyclic radical. The compounds are prepared by boiling 1 mole of a thiosemicarbazide with 0À5 mole of a dicarboxylic acid ester in a sodium methanolate soln. prepared from 11. of methanol and 1 mole of Na. The filtrate of the reaction is acidified with CH 3 COOH and the product ppt. filtered off and recrystallized from H 2 O or EtOH. When unsaturated acid esters are used, the product contains an alkoxy group(s) in A which depends on the alcoholic medium used. A list of products and their starting esters is given.
