[Also in Division F4] An aircraft pressurization system for maintaining the pressure in the cabin of an aircraft includes an outflow valve comprising a flat plate 16 pivotally supported about a shaft 18 by arms 20, and actuated by a member 24 to control a discharge port. The plate 16 can be moved from a closed position A, flush with the skin of the aircraft, to an open cruise position where a convex portion 26 forms a thrust nozzle with the skin 28 of the aircraft, to an open position B where it projects into the airstream to shield the discharge port from the airstream during take-off, and to a further open position C retracted within the interior space of the aircraft.
