Summary:1,079,343. Sensing records. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Aug. 31, 1965 [Sept. 11, 1964], No. 37195/65. Heading G4M. A perforated record card is sensed by means of a pair of air jets in opposing relationship on opposite sides of the card. Air from the first jet normally escapes over the surface of the card so that a low pressure is maintained in a channel connected to that jet. When a perforation lies between the jets, air from the second jet impedes the escape of air from the first jet and creates a back pressure in the channel to operate a sensor such as a fluid amplifier.
