Summary: | The invention comprises a phthalocyanine pigment mixture in the a -form consisting of an intimate mixture of at least 80% of copper phthalocyanine or a mono-halogen copper phthalocyanine or a mixture of these two components, 0.5 to 10% of tin phthalocyanine and 0.5 to 10% of magnesium phthalocyanine. The mixtures are made by grinding the components together in the presence of sodium sulphate, chloride or acetate and for example isopropanol or in aqueous dispersion with hexachlorethane. The components may also be conditioned separately and mixed together, or the mixture may be synthesized by heating phthalonitrile or phthalic anhydride or phthalimide and urea with a mixture of salts or oxides of copper, tin and magnesium or by heating phthalonitrile with magnesium and heating the produce with copper and tin salts and then conditioning the mixture by grinding in aqueous dispersion with hexachloroethane and/or by heating with dilute sulphuric acid. Examples are given. The pigments colour lacquers and spinning solutions. Specification 971,044 is referred to. |
