Summary:902,772. Smoke consuming; stove closets. RESEARCH PRODUCTS MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 4, 1960 [Jan. 5, 1959], No. 220/60. Class 126. [Also in Group I] In an incinerator-type toilet comprising a divided hinged bowl 16, an incinerator unit 21 beneath the bowl has walls 22, 23 with insulating material 24 therebetween, a vertical receptacle 33 of heat-conductive material being within and spaced from the wall 22, an electric heating element 39 immediately around the receptacle 33, ash-receiving ports in the bottom 34 thereof, and baffles 36 extending therefrom. Covers 46, attached to the wall 23, are hingedly mounted above the receptacle 33, to which upstanding springs 50 are fixed in sliding contact with the outer surfaces of the bowl 16 to close the latter. The unit 21 is centrally located in a body 10, having a diameter less than it, to provide an annular space therebetween, and has an opening 40 through the unit walls 22, 23 opposite which a suction fan is mounted over an opening 44 in the body 10 to withdraw smoke and fumes from the unit 21. In the opening 40 is positioned a metal catalyst type odour reducer 41 disposed sufficiently close to the heater 39 to be actuated thereby. The body 10 and the unit 21 each has an open top, the body opening communicating with the opening 40 and the annular air space. The receptacle bottom 34 accommodates a thermostat 35 electrically-connected with a relay box 37 and in the bottom 26 of the unit 21 is a removable ash pan 27 which can slide through an opening 28 in the wall 23 and an opening 29 in the body 10 when moved by a handle 31. The covers 46 are opened and closed by a foot pedal 51 mounted on a lever 52 mounted on a hinge 53 and having projections 55 thereon connected with projections 54 on the cover arms 47. Downward movement of the pedal 51 disconnects the current to the heating element 39 and fan 43 which are actuated by a swingle switch.
