Heterocyclic nitrogen derivatives of bis(p-dialkylaminophenyl) methane

The invention comprises heterocyclic derivatives of bis (p-dialkylamino-aryl) methane in which the alkyl groups each have 1-5 carbon atoms, in which the methane carbon atom is directly linked to a ring nitrogen atom of a benzotriazole, pyrazole, pyrrole, imidazoline, benzimidazole, tetrahydroquinoli...

Summary:The invention comprises heterocyclic derivatives of bis (p-dialkylamino-aryl) methane in which the alkyl groups each have 1-5 carbon atoms, in which the methane carbon atom is directly linked to a ring nitrogen atom of a benzotriazole, pyrazole, pyrrole, imidazoline, benzimidazole, tetrahydroquinoline or carbazole ring, in which the aryl groups are mononuclear and which is free from chromophoric groups and from acidic groups containing a hydrogen cation. The derivatives are made by condensing an appropriate bis (p-dialkylamino-aryl) methane having attached to the methane carbon atom an atom or group which is reactive with an amino group carrying a hydrogen atom to form a direct link between the methane carbon atom and the nitrogen, with a benzotriazole, pyrazole, pyrrole, imidazoline, benzimidazole, tetrahydroquinoline or carbazole base having at least one hydrogen attached to nitrogen in the ring. The derivatives are employed as colour-forming ingredients in colourless carbon papers and like duplicating sheets (see Group VIII).
