Summary:A framed membrane electrode assembly includes a membrane electrode assembly and a resin frame sheet member. The first electrode and the second electrode of the membrane electrode assembly extend outwardly of the entire outer peripheral end of the electrolyte membrane toward the frame sheet member. The outer peripheral portion of the first electrode is joined to one surface of the frame sheet member over the entire periphery. The outer peripheral portion of the second electrode is joined to the other surface of the frame sheet member over the entire periphery.
