Summary:A radiopaque embolic liquid may include two oppositely charged polyelectrolytes and a chaotropic salt in aqueous solution. Once delivered to a location containing a flow of lower osmolality medium, the polyelectrolytes can quickly undergo complex coacervation, precipitate as a hydrogel and can act as an embolic material. The resulting material is radiopaque i.e., visible in CT scan or radiographic imaging.
