Summary:An aqueous formulation that has at least one aqueous hydrophobizing agent and at least one water-soluble cationic polymer can be used to produce aqueous coating compositions that have improved early rain resistance. The water-soluble cationic polymer can have quaternary ammonium groups and amino groups. The hydrophobizing agent is an aqueous silicone resin emulsion, a silicone oil emulsion, an emulsion or microemulsion of an amino-functional silicone oil, a silane emulsion, or mixtures thereof.
