Summary:The fiber optic adapter according to the present disclosure may include a housing comprising a top wall, a bottom wall, two opposing sidewalls, and a partition wall dividing the housing into two channels. A central shutter pair is attached to the partition wall and has a first arm and second arm configured to extend into the two channels respectively. The first and second arms are sized and shaped to cooperatively close at least one channel, and at least one of the first arm or second arm is configured to be resiliently movable in a direction to open the channel upon insertion of a fiber optic connector. The fiber optic adapter may prevent the entry of dust and other debris.
