Summary:The present disclosure provides systems and computer implemented methods that include motion compensation in a three-dimensional (3D) scan. Motion compensation can include receiving 3D scans of a dentition, estimating a velocity of the 3D scanner during the 3D scan using a rigid body transformation based on input from a position tracking device in response to input from a 2D imager, and compensating for motion during the 3D scan based on the estimated velocity from the position tracking device.
