Summary:A method of isolating desmosine and isodesmosine in elastin includes hydrolyzing a sample of elastin and separating the desmosine and isodesmosine within a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) column. A mobile phase gradient includes a first solvent solution of MSA (methane sulfonic acid) and HSA (sodium hexanesulfonate) and a second solvent solution of formic acid in Acetonitrile. The desmosine and isodesmosine may be measured as eluents based upon a HPLC chromatogram.
