The wearable apparatus comprises a flexible substrate for conforming about the wearer's body, and a capacitive sensor attached to the flexible substrate, the capacitive sensor comprising a transmitter electrode and a receiver electrode arranged in opposition on opposite sides of the flexible substrate, the transmitter electrode being arranged to capacitively couple to the receiver electrode.
