Summary:According to one embodiment, an information processing system includes a memory system including a non-volatile memory, and a host device including a host memory and a processor executing software for accessing data stored in the non-volatile memory. The processor is configured to: allocate a cache area in the host memory to cache data stored in the non-volatile memory; when the software is executed, perform a tag lookup of the cache area, and in a case where a cache hit has occurred upon the lookup, access the cache area without accessing the non-volatile memory; and refill the data stored in the non-volatile memory into the cache area at a second frequency lower than a first frequency at which a cache miss occurs.
