Summary:An implantable fluid operated device may include a fluid reservoir configured to hold fluid, an inflatable member, and an electronic fluid control system to transfer fluid between the fluid reservoir and the inflatable member. The fluid control system includes at least one pump or at least one valve including a piezoelectric actuator. The piezoelectric actuator can include a piezoelectric element that deforms in response to a voltage applied by an electronic control system of the fluid control system, and a diaphragm that deforms in response to deformation of the piezoelectric element. An isolation layer may be coupled to the piezoelectric element to isolate the active piezoelectric element from non-active portions of the piezoelectric actuator.
