Summary: | The present application pertains in one embodiment to a sensor sub for use in a drillstring having a drill bit on a distal end for drilling a wellbore in a formation. The sensor sub comprises a tool body having a longitudinal axis; a first pocket on the tool body wherein said first pocket extends radially inward from an outer surface of the tool body and a second pocket on the tool body wherein said second pocket extends radially inward from an outer surface of the tool body. The first pocket comprises a first sensor selected from a type consisting of resistivity sensor, a sonic sensor, an ultrasonic sensor; a pressure sensor; an electrical imaging sensor; a gamma sensor; a density sensor; a neutron sensor; an acoustic sensor, an accelerometer, a magnetometer, and a gyroscope. The second pocket comprises a second sensor selected from a type consisting of resistivity sensor, a sonic sensor, an ultrasonic sensor; a pressure sensor; an electrical imaging sensor; a gamma sensor; a density sensor; a neutron sensor; an acoustic sensor; an accelerometer, a magnetometer, and a gyroscope. The first sensor and the second sensor are each a different type. A control unit may be operably connected to the first sensor and the second sensor such that the control unit is configured to determine the type of sensor, send data to the first and second sensor, and receive data from the first and second sensor. |
