Summary:Systems and methods are described for generating three-dimensional (3D) image models of skin surfaces. An example method includes analyzing, by one or more processors, a plurality of images of a portion of skin of a user, the plurality of images captured by a camera having an imaging axis extending through one or more lenses configured to focus the portion of skin, wherein each image of the plurality of images is illuminated by a different subset of a plurality of LEDs configured to be positioned at a perimeter of the portion of skin. The example method may further include generating, by the one or more processors, a 3D image model defining a topographic representation of the portion of skin based on the plurality of images; and generating, by the one or more processors, a user-specific recommendation based on the 3D image model of the portion of skin.
