One device includes an array of blue light emitting elements formed on a substrate, a light coupling material formed over the array of blue light emitting elements, and a quantum dot light converting material disposed in a portion of a pixel structure formed over the array of blue light emitting elements. The light coupling material has a high refractive index and may be, or include, a polymer material.
