Summary:An aqueous coating composition and a coated metal sheet having a coating formed of the aqueous coating composition. The aqueous coating composition includes a base resin of a polyester resin having an acid value of not lower than 10 mgKOH/g and lower than 70 mgKOH/g and a glass transition temperature of not lower than 35° C., and the composition contains β-hydroxyalkylamide compound as a curing agent. The equivalent ratio of the hydroxyl group of the β-hydroxyalkylamide compound to the carboxyl group of the polyester resin (OH group/COOH group molar ratio) is in the range of 0.8 to 3.0.
