Summary:Exemplary embodiments relate to a water filter for an aquarium that includes a housing, a cover, a removable first and second body, and an actuator. The housing includes an interior area configured to house filtration cartridges and an opening closable by the cover. The first body is configured to be in operative fluid connection with a water inlet and the second body is configured to be in operative fluid connection with the housing interior area through the cover, and is operatively releasably engageable therewith. The first and second bodies are releasably engageable in fluid tight connection, and each include a valve in operative connection therewith. The actuator is in operative connection with at least one of the valves and operation thereof is operative to simultaneously change each valve between the respective open and closed positions.
