Summary: | The present specification describes methods and systems for monitoring changes in physiological data, such as electrocardiogram data, respiration data, and blood pressure data, as a consequence of a change in position or movement of a subject under observation. Embodiments of the present specification provide systems for detecting and processing motion data by utilizing an available physiological monitoring device, with minimal additions of cost and equipment. A connecting wire is used to add a motion sensor to an existing physiological monitoring device. The connecting wire provides a channel for powering the motion sensing device as well as communication of data to and from the motion sensing device. Preferably, the motion sensor is embedded into the wire. |
