Summary:The invention relates to a near-eye display (1) comprising at least one curved or flat screen (2), comprising a plurality of optical elements (3), each optical element (3) comprising a controllable central emitter (6) configured to emit light; for each central emitter (6), a corresponding collimating optics (7) comprised by the corresponding optical element (3), wherein the corresponding collimating optics (7) has an optical axis (11) and is arranged such with respect to the central emitter (6) that emitted light from the central emitter (6) is collimated and the collimated light propagates particularly parallel to the optical axis (11) of the corresponding collimation optics (7). The invention further relates to a method for displaying an image with the near-eye display (1).
