The machined object includes a main body and a coating material applied to the main body, the main body includes a machined surface that is machined, a coating surface that is arranged adjacent the machined surface via a boundary and to which a coating material is applied, and a recess formed in the main body and recessed toward an inner side of the main body from the machined surface and the coating surface at the boundary, and the recess extends along the boundary so as to separate the machined surface and the coating surface from each other.
