Summary:An optical module includes an optical transmission device including a heating element, an optical element, an optical cable and an optical coupling unit that performs optical coupling between the optical element and one end of the optical cable; and a container that houses the heating element, the optical element, the optical coupling unit, and a portion including the one end of the optical cable, the container having an opening located between the heating element and the optical coupling unit in a direction in which the heating element and the optical coupling unit are arranged, the container having a portion located closer to the optical coupling unit than the opening in the arrangement direction wherein the portion is sealed.
