Summary:There is provided a document reading apparatus which automatically transports a document placed on a document tray to read an image. In a case of reading the document placed on the document tray, a document tray moving unit moves the document tray and a pickup roller presses the document based on a first instruction by a first operation button so that a state in which the document is placed is shifted to a document feeding available state, and a reading process of the document is started based on a second instruction by a second operation button.
