Summary: | The invention relates to a cathode layer stack used for semi-transparent organic photovoltaic devices with improved transmission of light in the visible wavelength range and excellent photovoltaic response. The cathode layer stack comprises an organic buffer layer (14b) deposited over a semi-transparent metal cathode (14c) and a silicon dioxide (SiO2) layer (14a) provided over the organic buffer layer (14b), wherein the refractive index of the silicon dioxide layer is lower than the refractive index of the buffer layer, and wherein the thickness of the silicon dioxide layer is less than 100 nm. In further embodiments, methods of manufacturing the cathode layer stack, organic photovoltaic devices comprising said cathode layer stack and uses thereof are described. |
