Summary:The present disclosure provides biophotonic topical compositions, kits and their uses. In some aspects, the biophotonic topical compositions of the present disclosure comprise a first chromophore, a salt selected from one or more bicarbonate or carbonate salts or a combination of the foregoing salts, and one or more gelling agents. In some aspects, the biophotonic topical compositions of the present disclosure comprise a first chromophore, one or more polyols, and one or more gelling agents. The biophotonic compositions of the present disclosure do not include an oxidant selected from the group consisting of a peroxide, a peroxy acid, hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide, an alkali metal peroxide, an alkali metal percarbonate, peroxyacetic acid, and an alkali metal perborate. The biophotonic compositions are useful for promoting wound healing and skin rejuvenation, as well as treating acne and various skin disorders.
