Summary: | An electrically- and thermally-conductive gasket includes a planar base and a series of fingers bent out of the plane of the base. The base and the fingers are flexible, allowing the base and the fingers to engage respective matching surfaces on opposite sides of the gasket. The base and the fingers may be parts of a single piece of material, such as a thin metal sheet. The fingers make contact with a surface on one side of the gasket. The fingers may deform separately, allowing good contact to be made even when there is unevenness (non-uniformity) in the surface that they make contact with, or to compensate for the non-uniformity such as non-flatness. Similarly, the base may deform to make good contact with the surface on the side of the gasket opposite the fingers. |
