Summary:An OBD2 device (safety device) monitors vehicle information such as vehicle speed, which vehicle information is electronically publishes and subscribed to by a safety monitoring application on a mobile communication device. The safety monitoring application determines when predetermined vehicle motion criteria have been meet and requests that the OBD2 device send a human interface device (HID) keyboard command to the mobile communication device, where the HID keyboard command is a screen lock command. The OBD2 device send the HID keyboard command to the mobile communication device which locks the screen of the mobile device.
