Summary: | When a start condition is satisfied after the internal combustion engine has been stopped according to an automatic stop control, a control apparatus reversely rotates the engine to compress an air in an expansion stroke cylinder at that time point, and thereafter generates a first time combustion. The apparatus determines whether the start condition becomes satisfied based on a first start request owing to a driving operation by a driver of a vehicle on which the engine is mounted. When the start condition becomes satisfied based on the first start request, the control apparatus makes a maximum value of an engine generating torque by the first time combustion and/or a maximum torque of the engine generating torque by a second time combustion larger as compared to when the start condition becomes satisfied based on a second start request other than the first start request. |
