Summary:An electrical connector comprises a casing and a connector module. The casing has a retaining member. The connector module has an electrically insulating contact carrier and a plurality of electrically conductive contacts. The connector module is at least partially surrounded by the casing and is retained at the casing by the retaining member. The retaining member exerts a retaining force on the connector module in a direction along a mating direction of the electrical connector. The connector module is removable from the retaining member in a direction transverse to the mating direction.
