Summary:A method of operating an internal combustion engine, in particular a gas engine, comprising at least one combustion chamber to which a charge air is fed with a variable charge pressure and/or a variable amount of charge air, wherein a cylinder pressure value is ascertained from at least one measurement value of a sensor arranged in the at least one combustion chamber, wherein the cylinder pressure value is regulated by altering the charge pressure and/or by altering the amount of charge air as a setting value or values to a cylinder pressure target value, wherein the cylinder pressure target value is selected in dependence on a power of the internal combustion engine.
