Summary:The present invention provides a metal material represented by compositional formula MnxMySimAln wherein M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu; and 2.0 x 3.5, 0 y 1.4, 2.5 x+y 3.5, 3.5 m 4.5, and 1.5 n 2.49, the metal material having a negative Seebeck coefficient and an electrical resistivity of 2 m ·cm or less at a temperature of 25° C. or more, the metal material being in a crystalline form. The present invention provides a novel material useful as an n-type thermoelectric conversion material exhibiting favorable thermoelectric conversion performance in the intermediate temperature range and excellent durability.
