Summary:Methods and systems are provided according to example embodiments of the present invention to provide an electronic asthma action plan/decision support tool as part of an electronic medical record system and to provide a guide to best practices, narrow the complexity of choices, and assist in selecting the appropriate therapy. In some embodiments, such an electronic asthma action plan/decision support tool may provide rapid determination of peak flow expectations; assessment of asthma severity or control; the ability to satisfy asthma appropriate care expectations; provision of guideline-based decision support; electronic prescribing; and generation of an individualized asthma action plan patient handout to support self-management.
