Summary:An integrated humidity sensor includes at least one measuring capacitor and one humidity-sensitive polymer as a dielectric that is also suited for use in a dirty, i.e., particle-laden measurement environment. The measuring capacitor of the humidity sensor is in the form of a plate capacitor in the layered structure of the sensor element, the outer of two electrodes being located at the surface of the layered structure. Disposed between the two electrodes of the measuring capacitor is a humidity-sensitive polymer layer that is in direct contact with the measurement environment via humidity-permeable paths in the outer electrode of the measuring capacitor. These humidity-permeable paths extend from the surface of sensor element to the polymer layer, and are so small in lateral extent that they do not significantly affect the electrical conductivity within the outer electrode.
