Summary:Configuration information of a portable information terminal can only be changed by reliable applications. A ROM area stores a first inter-process communication function unit that partially constitutes a first administrative application having an administrative privilege and is capable of transmitting information to and from other applications, and an authentication application name that partially constitutes the first administrative application and is used to authenticate an application that is a source of transmission of information, and an application name, a shared name, and a signature of a second administrative application having no administrative privilege. A RAM area stores an application name, a shared name, and an ID of an installed application and is managed via an OS. The first inter-process communication function unit authenticates an application, which is the source of transmission of the information, using a shared name corresponding to the ID of the application and the authentication application name.
