Summary:Systems and methods for block based level of detail representation are described herein. A method embodiment includes extracting one or more 3D models from 3D data, grouping the 3D models based on one or more attributes of the 3D models, distributing the grouped 3D models to a plurality of resolution levels of a geospatial data structure, and merging the grouped 3D models as a combined 3D model. A system embodiment includes a prepossessing system configured to extract one or more 3D models from 3D data and a block level of detail (LOD) creator configured to group the 3D models based on one or more attributes of the 3D models, and to render the grouped 3D models as a combined 3D model.
