Summary: | A liquid crystal display includes a plurality of pixels, a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a first base substrate and a pixel electrode provided on the first base substrate to correspond to each of the pixels. The second substrate includes a second base substrate facing the first base substrate and a common electrode provided on the second base substrate. The common electrode forms an electric field having an equipotential surface substantially parallel to an upper surface of the first base substrate in cooperation with the pixel electrode. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode and includes a liquid crystal composition having an anisotropic dielectric constant equal to or smaller than -2.9 and equal to or larger than -1.7. |
