Summary:Broadly speaking, the embodiments disclosed herein describe an apparatus, system, and method for processing a media asset by a media asset player in accordance with situational information related to a previous relationship between an identified external device and the media asset player. In one of the described embodiments, the identified external device is physically connected to the media asset player. In another embodiment, the identified external device is wirelessly connected to the portable communication device. In any case, the relational processing of the media asset takes place only while the media asset player is in communication with the external device.
