Summary:A high security exit system employs a door latching assembly which cooperates with a frame latching assembly mounted to the door frame. The frame latch is mounted for pivotal movement and has a latching surface movable toward a projected position. When the door is closed, the door and frame latching surfaces are projected and engaged in opposed surface-to-surface orientation. A direction of force resulting from an attempt to forcibly disengage the latching surfaces is directed through or close to the pivot access of the door latch. An override assembly is provided to force the frame latch to a retracted position when the door is opened. Auxiliary latch assemblies and corresponding frame latch assemblies are provided for coordinated latching and retraction when the push bar retracts the primary door latch. Dual latch assemblies are also provided. A solenoid mechanism may be employed to dog the push bar.
