Summary:An apparatus and method for decoding a matrix code symbol is disclosed. The apparatus includes an image processor configured to process an image corresponding to the matrix code symbol. The apparatus further includes a decoder configured to retrieve one or more encoded values from the matrix code symbol in response to the processing of the image corresponding to the matrix code symbol. The one or more encoded value includes one or more modified encoded values. The decoder is further configured to map each of the one or more modified encoded values with a corresponding predefined encoded value. A modified encoded value includes two or more digits of a corresponding predefined encoded value. The corresponding predefined encoded value is decoded by the decoder to determine a corresponding character.
