Summary:Systems and methods are described which facilitate content management in a network environment. Content types can be modeled by end users based on data usage and automatically generated by a content management system based on a user-defined data model. From these content types, content type objects may be generated. The data may then be examined to acquire a key set, and a content instance object generated for each datum found which matches a content type. This content instance object can then be associated with the datum using one or more key values, saved, and subsequently used to manage the data. These methods and systems allow data to be migrated to a content management system without any modification to the existing data repository or its associated structures.
