Summary:A method and system are disclosed for beam welding two members made of a metallic material. The method comprising placing a first shim along a weld joint faying surface between the two members of the metallic material, placing a second shim along the weld joint faying surface between the two members of the metallic material and at a distance from the first shim to create a first vent path between the first and the second shim and beam welding the members of the metallic material with the shim to create a porosity free weld.
