Summary:The present invention provides a process for the extraction and isolation of bioactive lignans with high yield and purity from Sesame oil by sequential extraction, crystallization, and saponification. The present invention provides a process for the production of highly pure bioactive lignan crystal, lignan enriched formulations with lignan content varying from 50 to 95% and with product flexibility and also at the same time preserve the starting raw material i.e. sesame oil.
