Summary:A piston pin includes a cylindrical sleeve and an insert, the insert material having a lower volume weight than that of a material of the sleeve. For instance, the insert can be made of an aluminium alloy, of titanium, of a TiAl alloy or of a composite material. The insert has a length approximately equal to, or less than, that of the sleeve and is firmly secured to the latter by force- or interference-fitting.
