Content is presented via a device. A calculated fingerprint(s) representative of at least a portion of the content is transmitted. A more comprehensive content fingerprint for the content is received in response to the transmission of the calculated fingerprint. The device locally compares further calculated fingerprints to the received content fingerprint to identify an end to the presentation of the content.
