Summary:This invention presents novel and simple, yet powerful, system and method for creating, organizing, sharing or distributing information via electronic means of communication, such as, e-mail, instant messaging, or electronic data transmission means. The system and method offer a new way of addressing data security concerns. The system architecture is designed to give a user substantial control on the personal communication environment in addition to the system-wide security measures. Other innovations herein include novel use of flexible data structures to organize the information in the system database, use of familiar communication protocols for new functionality, and new method for efficiently gleaning information from many sources into a uniform structure. This invention also provides a highly effective system and method of gathering precise "business intelligence" and other data for decision-making. Conversely, the system may provide to the user relevant information about products or services of interest.
