Summary:A display apparatus includes a display panel, and a backlight unit to supply light to the display panel. The backlight unit includes a light source, a light deflecting unit to deflectively scan light irradiated from the light source, and a light reflecting unit to reflect the light scanned by the light deflecting unit toward the display panel. According to the display apparatus, the number of parts in the backlight unit is reduced, thereby allowing a structure of the backlight unit to be simplified and allowing a thickness of the display apparatus to be reduced.
