Summary:A recreational accessory and corresponding mounting assembly is disclosed which is adapted and configured for use in combination with a substrate, such as a pier, dock, deck, porch, staircase, etc. The mounting assembly is secured to the substrate and the recreational accessory is removably attached to the mounting assembly. In the complete assemblage, the mounting assembly is optionally cantilevered outwardly beyond the perimeter of the substrate. Accordingly, the recreational accessory does not occupy any surface area of the substrate.
